U.S. Navy Veteran and Author of Thanks Uncle Sam: What I Wish I Knew Before Military Service
Marcus Dawes is a U.S. Navy veteran of five years. He proudly served in Virginia Beach, VA as an air traffic control non-commissioned officer. He also served an Operation Iraqi Freedom seven month deployment on board the U.S.S. Harry. S. Truman. Now, he is a Certified Professional Air Traffic Controller at the busiest facility in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Marcus is also the author of the book, “Thanks Uncle Sam: What I Wish I Knew Before Military Service”. This book highlights his desire to help future generations enlisting to serve our country. Marcus used the skills and benefits from his military enlistment to help him obtain, tuition free, his Bachelor's of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the world largest aviation university. His military enlistment opened the door to his FAA career.
Marcus enjoys spending time with his family and is a proud husband and father of his two sons who are now 7 and 6 years old, respectively. Over the last 10 years, Marcus has spent much of his time mentoring young elementary and middle school children in conjunction with the U.S. Navy and his fraternity, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
